openpacket.org is open for business

So the gang at openpacket.org finally has made it to 1.0 and the website is officially open for business. Honestly, I’m quite happy to see that someone has finally made something like this available- Tcpreplay users have been asking me where to get pcaps for a long time. I’ve been talking about doing something like this for years, but never had the time, so it’s great that someone else ran with it.

Of course, I have to admit I’m not completely thrilled by some of the overall choices made. I think too large of a burden is placed on contributors and the moderator guidelines are overly restrictive IMHO. Sites like this tend to have a very low contributor to leecher ratio so I think it’s critical you do everything possible to encourage people to contribute.

Regardless, I think Sharri Parsell did a beautiful job designing the site and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves for obviously putting a great deal of effort into it.
